Onesie Fest 5k-Marathon

Sassquad Trail Running’s Squatchy Onesie Fest 5k-Marathon, ran this past Saturday. RD Kim Levinsky cued me into a wonderful story on one of the event’s entrant, the young and spry Kathleen Davies. We weave a clip in from Kathleen above. Onesiefest results found here.

Chilly Cheek’s 5k

An event put on by the cult classic and wicked active trail community which is Pretzel City Sports, this year running in a traditional amount of snow. I was able to catch up with women’s winner, the tough and speedy Dixie Bonner. Her clip is woven into the video above.

Icy-8

Icy-8, an event in the lineup of Athletic Equation, also went down in Spotsylvania, VA this weekend. An excellent opportunity for early season miles. I was able to catch up with a varied crew from the event, from RD, to podium finishers, to an old college teammate getting in his second ultra in preparation for Cayuga Trails. We’ll weave in the clips above for a solid snapshot of the ICY-8. Results here.

The Virgil Crest Ultras

Virgil Crest, a cult classic, resurrecting for possibly only one year, and slated for September 11th (or 18th…waiting on final word) in Virgil, NY, opens this Saturday. Beautiful forest, less technical footing than surrounding mountain states, but with roughly 22k feet of gain for the 100, and ratio’ed down for the 50k, 50m, 100m, it’ll remain top of the charts on toughness. Still Aint for Sissies.

February 17th

Miner’s Lady 8 Hour

Slated to run on July 31s in Harper’s Ferry, WV, where the Blue Ridge mountains meet the Shenandoah River. Miner’s Lady is a beautiful 10K loop with 850 ft of elevation gain meandering through the mountains, mostly single track with a few waterfalls and creek crossings in the backwoods of Harpers Ferry, WV. Registration opens on the 17th.
