Trails Collective

Caleb Bowen

My name is Caleb Bowen and here is a little bit of information about me. I currently am the Assistant Cross Country/Track and Field Coach at Marshall University located in Huntington, WV. I was given the opportunity to coach here at Marshall (my alma mater) back in 2015 and have loved helping this team grow and progress ever since I started. In addition to coaching, I am also a doctoral student in education where I hope to begin my dissertation research on student athletes who experience anxiety here in the near future. When I am not coaching or writing for school, you can most likely find me running. Running has been my passion since I was a little boy. I was around 8 years old when I first saw my dad run his first 5k and I wanted to be just like him, so I started running with him. I quickly grew to love the sport and signed up for both cross country and track whenever I entered middle school. I ran throughout high school and ultimately was able to run for Marshall University as a collegiate athlete. Since graduating from undergrad, I have fallen in love with the marathon and ultra-marathon distances, and I have made it a goal of mine to help encourage the ultra-running community in WV to progress and to make the state a destination for trail running. I’m so excited to be apart of the Trails Collective as they share this goal of encouragement for the entire East Coast. Our mission is to make the East Coast the place where runners can live, train, and race with a great community to support them. It’s crazy how the simple exercise of putting one foot in front of the other can change your pathway in life and allow you to meet some amazing and incredible people.
