TC Interviews: Matt Lipsey (Matthias Lipshitz)
Matt Lipsey is the fastest trail running stud on the East Coast. Prove us wrong.
Matt began running while at Slippery Rock University in order to pass a drug test. He never ran for the team, but joined a single 8k cross country race probably running in cleats. He continued to train and have fun with his friends who did run competitively. Matt now runs for Mountain Peak Fitness and Red Newt Racing competing and winning most of the sub-ultra distances in the East.
He’s took the crown at gnarly classics including Hyner, Breakneck Point, Whiteface, 7 Sisters and others. He lead his team to a bronze medal at the U.S. National snowshoe championships and can juggle soccer ball with the best of them whilst serving you up some solid facts ranging from historical figures to the halfpipe earth theory. In this conversation, Matt shares stories about hiding beer in trees, running in college, why he runs up big steep climbs and why Slippery Rock is so named.
