First run in the Speedlands and Smartwool, tasting of the GU Liquid Energy Cola
Fastest Known Times of the Week
Jason Pageau & Bethany Garretson, 2h 7m for the Tupper Lake Triad in NY, covering Mount Arab, Coney Mountain, and Goodman Mountain, a 14.7 mile circuit with 2,790’ gain. Their mark is an opening mixed gender team mark.
Michele Zandona, 6h 1m for the Ramapo Dunderberg circuit in NY, a 22 mile stout Trail offering 5,500’ gain while traversing Harriman State Park. This is an opening women’s unsupported mark.
Keith Nadeau, 32m 47s for the Chatham Marconi Wireless Route in MA, a 5.2 mile traverse of the southeastern horn of Cape Cod. Keith betters the original section setter, Jeff Shaw, by 7 minutes. It’s cool to see places of historic interest pop up in addition to beautiful locations. This one in namesake to a pioneer in wireless communication, Guglielmo Marconi, an inventor, scientist and businessman who created the practical radio wave-based wireless telegraph system.
Debbie Livingston, 55m 24s for the Haley Farm / Bluff Point Loop, a 7.2 mile lollipop in Southern CT.
Ben Robinson, 3h 43m for the Old Loggers Path, a 27 mile loop in the Loyalsock State Forest, shaving 15 minutes off of Eric-now-turned-to-racing-road-marathons-in-Nike-clown-shoes Kosek’s mark from March of 2020. Another learning opportunity for me, as a beautiful streams, falls, and forests pop up in photos of the Old Loggers Path, it appears that Rock Run, in part passage of the Old Loggers, has been claimed to have some of the best swimming holes in the entire US. That’s a bold claim. Anyone out there able to get behind them?

Bold Coast Bash 10m, 20m, 50k, Cutler, ME
The Bold Coast Bash is one that I’ve been looking forward to since learning of their inaugural running in 2019. Last year was COVID’d and the wait was more than made up for by a beautiful day out this past Sunday. Wins went to Ben Nephew and Courtney Marchetti in the 50k, Erik Brooks and Molly Siegel in the 21 miler, Ren Salisbury and Caitlin May in the 10 miler. I had a wonderful day out there. Totally cherished the opportunity to run the first two of three loops with my teammate and friend Ben Nephew, catching up and appreciating just how beautiful the course was. I flagged a bit from lack of fuel and fitness, encouraged him to go on for the win, and opted to take the final loop to fully appreciate the place. I stopped to photo, film, connect, moving through in no rush whatsoever. Added maybe 30 – 40 minutes on time-wise, but it was totally worth it. Recounting a bit of the day and Bold Coast, is this video.
