Weekly Rundown July 15, 2020
In this week’s Rundown
We kick off with a clip from the next viral rage, Puddle Boarding, with Matthias Lipshitz. A plug for the hot-off-the presses Saucony Mad River TR2 (let us get you a pair). And a busy week ahead for Ian in prepping for Cayuga Trails 50’s and Lucifer’s Crossing, both with significant COVID modifications. We link an article from the VHTRC Facebook page on a trail runner – grizzly bear collision on the trails.

Jon Scovell battled it out with Kip to eventually take 3rd and 4th place, respectively. The 13th finisher, LeAnn Gotshall Martinez finished up with 40 miles.
Catoctin 50k and Half: 68 finishers in the 50k w/ Aaron Ellison taking the win in 5:58, and Rylee Schwwee in 6:53. In the 25k, we saw a fast year. Of the 45 finishers, the top three men established the 1,2, and 5th fastest times on the course, with Sean Leahy from Alexandria, VA establishing a new course record in 3:11.
MEDIA
The gang at Cultra Trail Running Podcast put out a burner of an episode. Jimmy celebrated 10 years of running with a 40 mile run, and nope he still doesn’t have abs. Maybe that’s at year 11?
Becky spoke about her most recent run on a track! She wanted to get to 24 hours, but stomach issues and a whole lot of peeing stood in her way. She pulled the plug at 75 miles but holy shit Becky, I’m mega proud of you!
Chris O’Brien and Ellie put out a new show last week after a month apart. We talk about Cayuga Trails, and the double standard we feel is going to happen with races. There’s also a food segment, so at least we end on something delicious!
Running Inside Out Podcast is putting out a great episode, which I am lucky to have insider knowledge on…but as of my recording this it isn’t out yet, so stay tuned.
Life is Trail Running has two new videos, the first being scenes from our local Ithaca trails here at Monkey Run, the second being a vegan sloppy joe recipe which looks just delicious after a run or long day outside!
Regarding the Trails Collective media, Ellie put out an episode with Elisabeth Faughnan on Friday, just in time for you all to get stoked on Cayuga Trails. She ran it on what would have been race day a month ago and is ready to give it another go in a few days. Good luck to all of you and here’s a clip from that.
(Insert clip)
Ellie also releases an episode with one of my favorite humans on the planet, Sheila Eagan! WATCH THAT EPISODE NOW!
