I’m a husband, father of three awesome daughters, trained and initially certified as an Occupational Therapist, and more recently founder of three run-specialty shops (still own one), Red Newt Racing, and the Trails Collective. My roots are in rural PA, growing up a competitive swimmer and later runner. A two-time NCAA All American in Cross Country, and National Qualifier in the Steeplechase, the trails of Ithaca latched on and I never let go. After stints living in Washington, Hawaii and…

My name is Kuwanna Dyer-Pietras and I am a trail and ultrarunner. I first started running competitively during my sophomore year in high school when I joined the cross country team. In my senior year, I also competed in track, including the 200 m, 400 m, and the pole vault. After high school, I continued running through my twenties and my thirties. In recent years, I have completed several marathons and ultramarathons, with 50 mile events being my bread and…

Currently I spend my time shuttling my two tween girls to various activities. When not doing this I can be found coaching, podcasting, drinking beer, and training on the wonderfully runnable trails of the Shawangunk Mountains. Some career highlights include an age-group national championship at 100K and top-10 national championship finishes…

I do not use the oxford comma. I’m a firm believer in quad trauma now, shenanigans and hoppy beer later. Rain or shine, I thrive on race day, love the start line energy, the disappearing singletrack and of course the fun competition. That said, I also love teaming up with people mid race because you can never have too many friends and as my man, Walter Payton said, ‘we’re stronger together.’ Besides trail running, I’m also mental for mantels and…
