Who is Mason?
I’m Mason Coppi. I started running in 2011 and immediately fell in love with the sport. I love running’s challenges, endorphin highs, simplicity, and community. Now I want to give back to the community that has been so supportive of me by helping others on their own running journeys.
In college, I practically majored in running, earning a B.S. in Health Sciences at Furman University. For my major I took courses in nutrition, biomechanics, exercise science, kinesiology, and completed a personal training internship. As a Research Assistant in Furman’s Human Performance Laboratory, I conducted and presented research to help advance the sport by studying running power output. As a NCAA D1 Athlete, I competed in multiple NCAA national championships in cross country with a 13:57 5K PR. I am currently competing as a mountain and trail runner, finishing 11th in the 2021 USAM Gnar Gnar Championships and 4th in the 2022 USAM Whiteface Championship.
Outside of running, my interests include espresso, movie soundtracks, karaoke, dancing, Stephen King novels, the historical significance of pirates, illustration, hummus, ceramics, cooking, granola, and muesli.
What is Mason’s Running Philosophy?
We are people who run, not runners who people.
I believe that training should make you a stronger, healthier and happier person. But, all too often, runners focus solely on running and immediate results. These micro-focuses can be great for short term success, but often lead to over-training, injury and – worst of all – burn out.
Hello to Running focuses on all-around science-backed training, functional fitness and life-style medicine. Training plans feature a large emphasis on pre-hab exercises, aerobic base building, neuro motor training, and fun.
Hello to bullet proofing, to mitochondria, neuron rewiring, and running like a maniac.
